... Not sure how I'm going to fill the rest of my time. I guess I'll find something to do.
Fly out of the Azores on Thursday night (9/17), have an overnight in Lisbon, and get home Friday night.
I hope to post some updates and pics every night. Should be posted no later than 7 pm EST every night unless I'm out to the wee hours of the am.
A short walk from the hotel lead us to the Louisville Convention Center and my first Kentucky Starbucks. I made it a mocha since it doubled as my breakfast. I asked the barista if they carried city mugs and he replied with a slight southern tang, "Nope. Small market."
Right.
... Caddy.
We then ventured over to the "hip side of town" and visited Lynn's Paradise Cafe. A busy destination spot, to be sure, but Lynn's was well worth the wait. It's tacky and eclectic and the wait staff are Kentucky's finest punk hippy kids--in short: awesome with veggie options. I had the vegetarian biscuits and gravy and my first ever plate of fried green tomatoes.
... creating my own agenda and itinerary is also making this trip have a more personal feel to it. Wow--3 weeks of travel and then a week off when i get back--that's not working for a whole month!! I think the last time that happened was the summer after graduating from high school back in 1998...seriously...I've worked a lot in the last 10 years...this is a much deserved break...48 hours from now we'll begin our journey!
Louisville, Kentucky, United States whoisjohngalt... it costs for the tickets a person for most of these river front eateries.
What my friends and I did is that we stopped by Kroger and got a bunch of cheap food and water (only water bottles are allowed in Indiana during this even - Kentucky doesn't even allow you to bring your own beverages). And we brought blankets and a chair with board games and music to entertain us for free till the show started.
As I mentioned before, this day isn't just a bunch of sitting and waiting ...
... what these may lack in height, the make up for in depth. The valleys and gorges that lie in between the mountains are deep, providing a magnificent contrast in colors and textures. Trees cover the sides of the mountains in a patchwork quilt of greens. Then, in the valleys between, there are rivers or small farms or just another layout of greens. Every time we curved around a mountain we were treated to another postcard view of beauty.

... a week. But if you go after 8PM be prepared to wait at least 10 minutes to get a table. It's totally worth it between the food, hookah, and atmosphere.
Wicks Pizza: Louisville's best pizza place. L-ville has a lot of pizzaria's. But wicks is the best. Nice big portions, with amazing ingredients. Plus, reasonably priced! I highly suggest it.
... the Lincoln historical sites and enhancing the Lincoln learning experience! We visited Lincoln’s home (protected by the National Park Service), the Lincoln-Herndon Law Office (his last and only remaining office), the Lincoln Train Depot, site of his famous Farewell Address to friends and supporters February 11, 1861, when leaving for Washington. The Old State Capitol has also been restored to an ...
Louisville, Kentucky, United States lstoneham... me but we're anxious to share our enjoyment of this area with our friend.
Helen and I spent the night before departure working on "Beautifying America", her term for our efforts to update our hair and nails before departure. We should be all set for leaving early tomorrow.
Can't waint to get started on our adventure.
... whiskey bottles & glasses and has all sorts of extra whiskey stuff - from advertising leaflets to stuff on Prohibition. After the tour we find a motel before heading back into town and having a nice meal at Dagwoods. It's nice to find a non-chain locally owned restaurant and the food is good (steak/ tilapia) and at last this place has different choices/flavours/ tastes. After dinner we head back and relax with some jacuzzi/pool time. Day 339 Tuesday 04/10/05 ...
