We arrived at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky last Sunday and camped at the Kentucky Horse Park Campground. Was a very nice campground with many amenities and we had a large shade tree on our site. That afternoon Elena and I visited the Kentucky Race Horse Retirement Center. The tour we were able to take was up close and personal with many of the horses- of whom many were former Derby winners. ... I have to say it SEEMED a lot longer than ten minutes. With your admission ($14) you also get the 30 minute Historic Walking Tour.  If you haven't noticed we've done a few other "historic" related tours on this road trip! ... confectionery called Schimpff's. We tried Bourbon Balls (yes, they are aptly named) and visited the little museum that contained a hundred years' worth of candy-making equipment.

Next, we stopped at a park overlooking the Falls of Ohio. This little park is where Meriwether Lewis met William Clark (younger brother of George Clark) in 1803. Their handshake agreement is depicted in a statue in the park and is generally considered the birthplace of the Lewis and ...

... Krogers and Loews at least for 4-5 days. It has taken forever to get stocked up on everything and I am so sick of those stores that we are boycotting them for a while!

Tomorrow we are heading to Florida and not sure where we will stop along the way. We are just playing "being retired" without a real plan for the next 3 days. If we find anything exciting we will post it here.
