A new year is well underway, and while I should have written this weeks ago, it is kind of nice to be writing it now, three weeks later, when I have had time to evaluate and am still fully certain of my so called resolutions.

I don't believe in resolutions made based solely on a new year. I love making them throughout the year, as needed. I believe there is no set time that says we must make a change, or that the clock going from 11:59 on Dec. 31 to 12:00 on Jan. 1 ...

... in and check my bag, and before I knew it, I was sitting in an airport cafe rather appropriately called TGIFridays (Thank God It's Friday, yes, it really does exist!) and marvelling that everyone was only just finishing school, and here was I, about to fly to the United States of America once again! We didn't plan to go to a Bears game when we set up the trip. The NFL schedule actually didn't come out until just before we bought our plane tickets. Once we saw the Bears had a home game that weekend, we actually changed our flight plans to be able to make the game. Of course, the tickets for the opening weekend of a Chicago Bears game sold out before we even had a chance to think about buying them, so we had to resort to ...

Winnetka - Downtown Chicago - Southside & Pilsen

Not very early on Monday morning I got the train to downtown Chicago (i.e. the centre). I'd decided that the best way to be introduced to the city which invented the skyscraper would be a 75min architectural river tour. I've got literally hundreds of photos but unfortunately most of the information decided not to stick so what they're of is anyone's guess.

The city itself is beautiful. The buildings, incredibly different from London, and even New ...

... before we go dirt-tracking, we'll stop at a 'tire shop' to get it taken out to see if it had actually gone through the tyre. Best not to wait until it decides to deflate the tyre when we are at the furthest point from civilization and mobile signal out in the desert.

Back to this morning. I now know what it is like to live under the flight path of London Heathrow Airport as it's just like staying in a motel under the flight path of Chicago O'Hare Airport. I already know that when ...
