Another big breakfast. Lovely day, left at 11am - went through Cherokee indian reservation. Up Route 441 - Newfoundland Gap. Went to Smokies National Park - stopped at Chimney top picnic area. Watched Americans picnicing. Lovely streamside setting with boulders. Drove through Gatlinburg, Dinner at Cracker Barrel.

Woke up to a delicious breakfast of ham and cheese omelets by Chef Marcus, who don't need no spatula to flip some eggs.
We broke camp leisurely and headed south ...
After DC we hired a car from Knoxville and headed to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. We stayed in a town called Gatlinburg and the only way I can describe it so that everyone understands.... It's like being at Disneyland without the rides but all the attractions and fast food restaurants that you could think of. It had so many mini golf places, Ripley's believe it or not attractions, cars from movies, old fashion ...

Our heads pointed downhill, and I spent the night alternately dreaming of falling and fending off Julie as gravity pulled her onto my side of the tent. I tell you, I didn’t need Julie’s body heat pressing all up on me because the tent was, once again, a steam bath. I thought mountains would be cooler at night!
Maybe Benadryl wasn’t such a bad idea after all. Too bad I didn’t bring any.

Happy Labor Day People (though we will make the argument that we labored more yesterday)
today is Waterfall challenge #2. This one was Grotto falls and only 3~ish miles and supposedly not so uphill. (This being a waterfall I was not going to be fooled by the promise of 'no' uphill...)
We carried a lighter load today (smart move #1) and brought along our water shoes ...
