... just be too lonely and go absolutely insane so host family it is. Hopefully they'll be nice and won't hate me or anything. No clue what to bring. Maple syrup is the obvvvious choice, but they say food gifts are just awkward if they end up not liking them so maybe maple candy would be better because it's easier to conceal if thrown away?

This was such a change from the many struggling farm communities we have seen
throughout the Midwest. The town was founded
by a Dutchman back in the 1800s who brought back a couple of hundred of his
countryman to farm the area. We had just missed the annual Tulip Festival the
