Blue skies this morning. Breakfast at Helen's and then we hit the road. Highways 20 & 12 run along northern Nebraska. Small towns, nice highways with very little traffic. We saw a cattle drive with a pickup leading about 25 cows being herded by 2-4wheelers along the side of the road. Had lunch at the Frosty Drive-In. In Valentine Ne. This was mostly a driving day. Appreciated a visit at KBRX Radio in O'Neill as we wound our way toward Valentine.
It's a kick to have a Valentine's Day dinner in Valentine, Neb., but not to be outdone, we'll be back in O'Neill for the Big St. Patrick's Day festivities there, including the parade with the famous green horse!
Orchard is a delightful community just on the edge of the Sand Hills and off the beaten path -- which is a very, very good thing, if you love rural Nebraska as much as this man from Palmer, Neb., does!
