Then I looked down and saw that after so much riding her legs were tree trunks that could crush me. Not my cup of tea. Like the guys, her clothes were much darker than the original colors. Constant hand washing makes them smell nice but doesn't get dirt out. She clearly wasn't a fan of sunscreen. In the first week I covered 418 miles from Yorktown, VA to Max ...

Yesterday was a driving day, we set off from Nashville and other than a stop for lunch when we stopped at a park and played football or frisbee we drove for most of the day and went to Virginia. The drive was very pretty, the countryside has started to look more and more like the UK, lots of trees, fields and rolling hills. It has also got much cooler which is great as well. The campsite last night was lovely, had a nice swim and a relax and made ...

Up bright and early to get on the road for a long day's riding.

Unfortunately it started to rain just as Tom was driving me back to my bike.

Waited until the rain eased off ...

... track but was a nice walk and a nice fall. We then caught a lucky break when the GPS took us the longer (but more practical) way to the next planned stop. On the was we decided to call into Sliding Rock. Damien had read that this would be very crowded in Summer so hadn't planned on stopping. It was early enough that the crowd was pretty managable and Damien was able to join the queue (of mostly children) to slide down the "waterfall". It was great fun but very cold. We then ...

... Appalachian mountain range. I later googled and found out this is classified as the 'white ghetto' , kinda fitting considering we replaced the toilet block for a bush in stumbling distance by 11pm! Tbh, there is not much else to say about this day - the pictures speak for themselves! The guides equipped use with whiteboard pens for a bit of window doodling. Free drink for correct guess on what my beautiful piece of artwork is - maybe I can cross another career off the list ...
