After leaving Ohio the weather warmed and the sun shown. Lots of construction on I-70. It was a long day. Tomorrow we cross Oklahoma. We plan on arriving in San Diego on mid-day Saturday.
Beth is backpacking with a friend in Northern California and visiting Big Sur one more time before moving to Colorado. She is a busy girl!
What was marvelous (to me) about the one-lane sections was this: the deep reality of difference between Anne's East Coast self and John's Midwestern self was exposed! The road signs would say "Left lane closed in 5 miles." Then "Left lane closed in 4 miles. Merge right." AND CARS AND TRUCKS WOULD DUTIFULLY AND POLITELY MERGE RIGHT. Anne would protest, "But there are still 4 miles with the left lane open. ...
... And trust us, it wasn't always easy (especially for the one who always thought she was right).
Flexibility was key. We were both open to changing our plans for the day if something better came up or if the day wasn't working out quite the way we had hoped.
Having our own personal space where we could retreat to read, relax or sleep was a lifesaver.

... private school we went to, John did a program for all of the students and then afterwards, three student journalists (who had been taking photos during his program) interviewed him about life on the road and what it's like being a circus clown. They had a lot of good questions!
Today is a two town day and our next two is over 2 hours away!! We hurried up back at the RV and after a quick Taco Bell lunch, we were on our way to Paris...MO, not France.
