... took the wrong turn which was unfortunate but we managed to find our way back onto the number 1 highway heading East. The driving conditions were terrible and at times we could hardly see a meter in front of us. It was a bit nerve racking and by Strathmore which was only 50km from Calgary we decided it was stupid to try and go any further because the next town wasn't for another 200 km or more so we stopped and had a drink at Tim Hortons while we decided what we should do. ... in 1883. Today you can't go into the water but you can look in the cave, see historic information and see the bubbles in the thermal pool and learn about endangered thermal snails, We saw the Bow waterfall ,there is a huge amount of water coming down the falls.We drove out off Banff after a wonderful stay.

... home to see how high the river really was on the news. It turned out that half of the town had evacuated, and the bridges across the river were almost submerged! The zoo even had to evacuate the animals because it is on an island in the middle of the river. I hope the river is lower tomorrow or we won't be able to catch our plane because the airport is on the other side of the river ...

Calgary to Vancouver was nothing new. Short flights tend to feel weird to me as I am used to having to settle in and get comfy for a longer stretch of time. We flew over the mountains, still covered in lots of snow. I think Tyson would have enjoyed this view a lot, imagining the possibilities for heli-skiing, snowboarding, and sled climbing.
