... a long day on the road...about 6 and half hours, with only one rest break! One of the most annoying things about today was the fact that this evening the government finally made an agreement to end the shutdown. Of course this is great news in one way as we will now be able to go to Alcatraz in a couple of days, but it does mean that we have narrowly missed out on seeing Yosemite and some of Death ...

... were called at 10pm which puts pays to having a late night, this works out fine later as we bot have calls on our mobiles through the night and some ***** set the alarm on the clock in the room for midnight. By this stage we are living out of one case, we have all our clean clothes in one and used clothes in the other. We left Mt Carmel UT at the crack of dawn, drove on the Zion/Mt Carmel scenic Hwy, thr' the 2 tunnels (one is 1.1 miles long) and out with no fee payable, as the US Govt employees had not turned up to work this early. Saved ourselves $25.

One has to take time to stop/go on this stretch of highway with the stunning mountainside vista's that you see in the Zion area.

... further on our trip to national parks if you arrive before 8am - psst - you are in free but watch out when coming out they can catch you. But we bought an annual pass to all US National Parks, so we still saved heaps.
