After a glorious drive, we finally arrived very late at our Rock Springs KOA campsite and settled down for a good night's sleep.
When we arrived in North Platte yesterday, our trip mileage was 1963 miles @ an average of 45 mpg for fuel. Today we added another 400+ miles including a marvelous diversion over the Snowy Range Scenic Byway through some of the Medicine Bow Mtns. Highlights:
** Upon entering Wyoming, the highway speed limit went right up to 80 mph -- but every so often the signs would say, "Construction ahead. REDUCE SPEED. 75 mph."
Although my goal is to travel without deadlines, I needed to make tracks across Nebraska and Wyoming to have dinner with my brother Richard. It was so cool that I didn't use air conditioning until halfway across WY. The wind, on the other hand, was a force to be dealt with. ... from the mess, did suggest that they probably should put up a warning sign pertaining to the cavernous dip in the road. Hm, WE AGREE. Judging by the number of deep gouges, I bet there are dozens of other rv'ers who would support some warning signage. Today is a long drive day. We started with a shared favorite - Cracker Barrel for a good breakfast. The Dickinson family introduced to Cracker Barrel on our first visit to Nashville and we have enjoyed its consistency on many of our road trips. After breakfast we made a stop at Walgreens in Fort Collins to stock up on water and a few road snacks. Next we visited a Best Buy and replaced the lost camera. The camera was on sale for a ...
