Over the two days that we were in Victoria we found some good places to grab some food, and bars to drink in. We experienced a wonderful vegan buffet, where you pay by the weight of your plate, this was a real eye-opener into how good vegan food can actually be!! The end of the line was East Sooke. In the middle of nowhere, it was the kind of spot that makes people ask, "Why are you going THERE?" The answer? Peace, wilderness and a beautiful place called Quail Peak. Although I cannot really claim it to be a wilderness experience when we could watch the stunning sunsets over the Sooke basin from the tranquility of our own swimming pool or hot tub. ... a little white Jeep SUV sort - and were greatly amused to find it didn't have automatic windows. So we relived the "good ol days" by rolling down our windows with the crank knobs and headed around the highway loop that would eventually take us northwest to Port Angeles.

The Pacific Coast Highway took us over a great suspension bridge and we had to stop and wait about 10 ...

... We feasted on superb steaks and loads more, with the real treat being eating a huge Cajun-spiced halibut (one of their local fish) caught by them only days earlier out on the boat - yummmoo! Of course beer and wine flowed freely and many laughs were had, one especially being when someone asked did we like Arba in Australia, which I repeatedly said I had never heard of until it finally dawned on me they meant good ol Abba, at ...

... the trail I would reccommend if you arrive in the early afternoon, as we did. The five mile trail would be my first choice, but not enough time for us to do it today. I'm a sucker for a waterfall, so I convinced Kary and John that PJ Lake was a must on our list. Driving down a dirt one and a half car road was a challenge, especially since there are no guard rails. But we found a pull off that said "Lake" and figured this was it. Flat and easy for about 5 ...

... for me. I can't say that I have ever been invited to do something that compares to this experience and its hard to say that I will ever have something like this to look back on again. This was a once in a lifetime experience for me, and I am grateful to have such wonderful friends. Unfortunately I didn't take my camera with me on the yacht, as it was an absolutely amazing sight. Dusty and I enjoyed a night at the bars, and of course the Sticky Wicket was revisited.
