    ... first 6 hours (430 miles) till we turned south towards Witchita. We had to stop for gas at intervals of 2 hours or less. With 80 MPH speeds and the head wind our gas mileage was horrible.     ... in Kansas right now because they have had more rain than normal -- it has been a happy summer for farmers. I've forgotten to mention that we're now in the Central time zone and have been since we entered Texas -- we're now only one hour different from Vermilion.     Crazy, crazy day. As is always the case with us, it's almost time to go and we aren't ready. Despite packing several weeks ago, we had to pack. Things were taken out of the bags, things were being washed, things needed added or subtracted, etc. Packing is something that is stressful for us, but even more so for our babies.     Me? I've eaten a piece of week-old carrot cake and two pieces of buttered bread, checked Facebook, lost two games of solitaire, won a game of "Throw inthe Vowel," and written two blog entries. Now the computer is starting to mess up, so I think I'll read -- in the semi-darkness --until I think I can get to sleep. Somewhere.
