... turn and no exits for 12 miles. Finally found a truck stop, Fray asked for help, we found a shortcut but it took 1.5hrs to get home & it was completely dark & raining the whole way. Sooo stressful. Took the shine off an otherwise great day. Didn't feel like driving anymore so walked to dinner at the Italian restaurant next door again. The photos on Insta show the ridiculous pizza we got (thought sharing a meal would reduce the waste). Wine ...

We also had free wi fi once we crossed into the US which is always great & the train had a viewing carriage which we each visited for a while. If you ever visit this area & you have time, the train is terrific. We arrived in Albany at 5.30pm & because we'd been sitting in a train for 11 hours, we decided to walk from the station to the hotel. A distance of 1.1 miles and ...

Overall, the trip out to the Gunks was awesome. We had a bit of crummy, rainy weather in the first part of the week here, however after that, the weather really was great and we were elated to be able to end this leg of the trip on such a 'high' note. I had my freak out session and was able to work through this issue.

Look for our next post from Sleepy Hollow in lieu of Halloween!

... and Museum which is quite extensive and has engaging exhibits.

One aspect of FDR's life that was stressed was the effect of polio on him and the extent of it. He was very careful to show himself as walking even though his legs were paralyzed in order to have a chance at a political career. It also turns out that he had presidential ambitions early on. I had not been aware of that. The exhibit showcased his sweeping policies to combat ...

We got to our Fishkill hotel just about when it was getting dark. It was also pretty cold as we (or I) had to make multiple trips to the car. We were very pleasantly surprised by the spacious "suite" with kitchenette - where we could nourish ourselves on leftovers from our dinner at Kara and John's. Thank you, John, for all the food!
