... that walking around Johannesburg was too dangerous. All my concerns were unfounded and I felt perfectly safe walking around the tourist areas of Johannesburg. The street vendors were in fact much less pushy than the ones in Ghana. I thought I should check out the stats to see what the deal is. I found a list of the 50 most dangerous cities in the world. 5. Take out some shirts; there are always too many.
      6. Change mind about hiking shorts and decide on much more comfortable ...

Into LHR after 1000 local time. We were a bit later than expected. On clearing into the public area, said my farewell to Dave. The trip went very well with him. Hopefully China will beckon in two years.

... costs. Of course we don’t have the luxury of a lift or inspection pit to make getting at the underside of the car any easier to do this job. So our usual tactic is to find a bit of wasteland out of the public view and away from built up areas and human habitation etc, and dig a hole in the ground. The theory is that the old oil will pour neatly and not too messily down the hole if the car has been correctly positioned over the hole. Sounds simple enough? Well, judging how ...
