    ... had lunch with Carolyn who was a friend of Martha's. She had been very good to Martha over the years when she had been so unwell. It was a lot of fun - she has a great sense of humour. We then drove around University of Toronto and tried to imagine Mum and Dad there. We still don't quite understand MM's university career - the college system is quite different.     ... that. Second hour was with Sensei Gene from Spokane. It was parrying during sparring and was all done with a partner. I just cannot override the instinct to back up when someone comes at me instead of charging at them. The best I got was to move slightly forward, but to the side. Ah, well, something to practise.     ... and has found that guide books are often reprinted with no further research therefore printing the same info over and over. Of course caution should be taken anytime you travel but I don't feel as though there is any more danger in the main cities I. South Africa than any other cities.     ... was freezing cold girls wearing mostly nothing at all... there were slutty cats, whorish princesses, nurses, maids, devils, witches... all the costumes were little corsets with either a mini skirt or just a leotard with the picture of who they are 'dresses as' on the front.

    Anyway... we got to the party and squeezed through the front door... there were SOOOO many people, and they were all dressed up so great!! ...
