Time is getting close for our travels to Italy. We are excited; our adventures will include: Rome, Naples, Sorrento, Pompeii, Florence, Tuscany, Pisa, Venice, Milan and the Italian and Swiss Alps.
Plane and train tickets have been purchased a well as tickets to several historical sights - Vatican, Academy of the Arts (David) and Uffizi Gallery.

... The skies were so overcast I thought we might be in for another storm, but no just a few sprinkles. Maybe it's smog, with loads of industrial smoke polluting the air.
The hotel has been refurbished lately, but the area is sad, so I hope there's a public transport system reasonably close to go exploring, as I know Paul won't drive into the city!

Our morning routine will need to be refined. We should probably aim to be on the road a bit before 10.30 if we are going to get to Las Vegas in time! The aim is to get to Springfield today. ... to the grill. I've also purchased a new set of tires to replace 15-year old tires that are on the car. The original tires have lots of tread left, and if I were just using the car for driving around locally or short trips, I'd leave then alone for a couple years. But they are old and the sidewalls are beginning to show age, so they must go. The problem is that this car has real wire wheels and there aren't many places around that can mount and balance real wire ...
