Sunday, Oct. 27th. We had a wonderful drive through the Arkansas Mt's along route 270 in the western part of the state. Lots of autumn colors, beautiful mountain scenery, good road. Just the time we crossed over into Oklahoma things changed a bit! The road was in poor shape and there wasn't the attention to a litter free state that we had experienced in Arkansas.

... her can have it!", handing the water gun to Zoe. Without further ado, we slipped into our swim suits and waded into the muddy lake. Zozo was overjoyed! Since we had a bit of time before sunset and we were remarkably unprepared for camping (no food, coals, knives, bug spray, etc)... So, we decided to venture out and have our fist Walmart experience. They say you get sucked into Walmart, and it is true! We went to buy some ...

... are the top of a plateau because all the trees are gone and you just have these rolling hills of grass. Once you cross the Oklahoma border, you are back into the treeline. Because it took over an hour and half to get lunch (note to self ... don't eat at the Chili's in Alexandria, LA), we didn't pull into our hotel until after 8pm. Made for a very long day. Two more long days of driving ... but it will be worth it in the ...
