Things are finally falling into place and the countdown continues at 3 weeks to go!

We enjoyed a box lunch picnic in the park. They were packed by the hotel and were better than expected (after last night's poor meal)---sandwich, chips and cookie. We ate with Eric and Sue from Illinois, very nice folks.
After lunch and a short drive we took in an amazing view of Kings Canyon ...
... from previous travels and decided to use some of these. Chi Chi must have agreed because when we entered the room, she jumped up on a bed and ran around, jumped to the other bed and did another series of quick circles. She was happy!

... as John had hoped, but we found a Motel 6 at Madera for under $70 (and therefore on budget) and there was even a Dennys Diner next door for the morning. In our room we had cans of drink and snacks from the vending machines downstairs while we checked our emails and made notes for our blog. We switched the air conditioning off at 10.30 and crawled in to bed in our sleep-inducing large comfortable room. Not that we needed any help in getting to ...
... bit dissapointing. So we set up a movie and then went to bed. I think we were more tired than we thought.
All i have to say is that i do not want to drive an RV through mountain
roads. It is big enough for me to drive on the straight highway. And
people out here in California do not believe in guard rails. C'mon
people! I have enough adrenaline already.
Tomorrow is a big day...we have to get to Arizona.
