Now that I have no where to be there is no reason to make 500 miles a day. We decided to pull off about half way to Iowa. Having driven in rain for an hour it looks like it is coming back. We have stayed in this park some 20 years ago, but it looks like there are many improvements. As we pull into our site it starts to rain. It is always fun setting up in the rain. Driving past a few more towns, Shirley, Funks Grove (famously make Mapel Sirup (how it is spelt), then McLean and a quick stop in Atlanta, where we saw the second giant of the trio on this trip, The Bunyan Giant, brother to Gemini Giant. Atlanta was a lovely small town, with R66 signs, a park and a few shops dedicated to this famous old road. The kids were tired and wanted to find the nearest ...

Maybe it's smog, with loads of industrial smoke polluting the air.

The hotel has been refurbished lately, but the area is sad, so I hope there's a public transport system reasonably close to go exploring, as I know Paul won't drive into the city!

    I'll let you know tomorrow

... i guess he was smart enough in the end to know not to mess with the english and he dropped back. Before the battle we stopped off for some authentic mcdonalds after an hour or so's driving which was pretty disappointing as it was exactly the same as back home, albeit a bit better put together.

The adventure really began as we drove out of the 'rest area', we decided to take a left as it looked easier than turning right and after seeing no signs for the i55 we ...
