This weekend my hosts have taken me to their second home, on the North Shore of the beautiful Lake Tahoe.
Lake Tahoe is in two states- Cali and Nevada. The Nevadan side suffers from gambling.
We travelled to the North- Dollar Point. It is about a 2-hour drive from Sacramento. They have a wonderful alpine style cabin although don't be fooled- it is ginormous.

... fun. After tea me, Emily, Sofia, Betina, Joe, Ros and Hikarou headed to the beach to crack the Asti open, stare and the stars and have a laugh. Was lovely, although we could see the wild fire clearly from the beach which was upsetting. I had an amazing day topped off by an a amazing evening it was time it hit the sack. Another little surprise was waiting for me in the tent...balloons..so cute and fun :) Loved my day so fun ...
... in the tent out of suitcases and backpacks (which actually worked!). All got freshened up and wandered down to the lake, water was pretty brown so I didn't venture in but the scenery was amazing and watched various water sports in action (and what we believe to be Ellen Degeneres hosting the National PaddleBpard championships!!). I now desperately want to try paddleboarding so might have to give it a go in San Diego as we have a bit of spare time!! Drove over the border into ...
... to go to the shop to get supplies and have a good dinner. So, steak and salad stuff bought, we returned to our beers and our balcony and proceeded to drink then eat. Perfect! Later in the evening, after we had eaten way too much, we had fun watching people come back from dinner and choosing where to park and then parking quite badly (I think it was fun because of all the beers..). Good way to end an evening I say.
... the drivers behind us were not too happy either. She ran hot, wouldn't go up hills. At two of the four stops to try to keep her cool, boiled coolant smoked through the entire cabin forcing Matt & I out into the 98F heat (37 degree) beside the highway. The highway policeman received calls about us and came to check if we needed help. As Matt quietly (and heroically) worked on the problem I sat up in some pine trees ...
