    ... bed.

Wednesday, 6/26: We woke to a damp but cooler
morning, packed up, and decided to drive over to the viewpoint to see Clifty
Falls, the park's namesake. There were lots of nice, challenging trails in the
park, but this one to the falls viewpoint was short and paved. The view into
the wooded canyon was beautiful in the early morning mist; no one else around
except noisy birds. The falls were ...

Now don't get upset by the title... I have called Prestonsburg this for many years... We have a love hate relationship. Day 45 2nd October, Beech Fork State Park, West Virginia

    Three states, four stateliness?

Followed the national Geographic's recommended byway "Country Music" plus the suggested hour side trip to the “Grand Canyon of the South” at Breaks State Park.

Highway 23’s an excellent road and we swung along trying to catch the “Country Music Byway” signs on camera – fun, but where’s all the ...

... amazing valley on mountains. You can really see why they call the Kentucky Appalachians the smoky mountains. The fog and clouds draped over the mountain tops of green masses of trees. The town of Pikeville was sunken into a narrow valley in the secluded mountains. Great location, just not for cyclists with thousands of coal trucks passing through daily. What to do? Finally, much to our dismay, we were forced to rent a Uhaul and drive into Virginia. Live to ride another day! ...

This is our first blog entry. This summer we'll be doing a lot of traveling and wanted everyone to be able to keep up with us! We want to make it from Orlando to Boston this year traveling a total of over 8,000 miles. That's more than the diameter of the earth! Who knows what surprises we'll find along the way!
