So Tyler is still challenged in the area of map studies. He opens it, covers himself in it and can't fold it! Aren't they teaching this in second grade? C'mon common core. So I used Pinterest to inspire some travel games & ideas. If the kids are being "good" their name clips remain on the visor. If there is whining, complaining or fighting their names come down. Along the way we made a detour at Olmsted to see where they are building a new lock which will replace locks 52 (at Paducah) and 53 at Olmsted. It is a massive project which will enable the Ohio to be navigable all year round even in the dry summer.

Some of them may do these jobs at very low pay because they are bored with retirement others because they have to but they are taking the low skilled jobs from the young unemployed. Arrived early and got our pick of sites. We found one right on the lake. At dusk, a family of skunks would come out to enjoy the fallen crab apples on the tree in our site. The sunsets were gorgeous! We met Puff the Purple Dragon on the beach! Loved the water tower.

... While in the actual cave I was treated to a song by a man who wrote it due to his father's death. Well sung with lyrics appropriate for a riverside setting, it was quite touching. Tomorrow we turn northeast to follow the Ohio River valley for awhile. Should be interesting and also avoids some areas of Kentucky with reports of difficult riding " like Missouri onlyba lot more dogs". Poor connectivity here so I will have to send pictures separately ...
