... by now (5.30) and we had not booked a hotel. Cairo was not looking very promising. There was a Quality Inn just past the town but we had not seen anywhere to eat. On to highway I 57 with the hope we would find something along the way. No luck, not even when the I 24 crossed it. However, about 40 minutes from Cairo (highway speed was 70 mph) was the town of Marion which had 3 hotels at the first exit and 2 eating places.

... into bags who were clearly much older than Wes and me. Some of them may do these jobs at very low pay because they are bored with retirement others because they have to but they are taking the low skilled jobs from the young unemployed. If Abbott gets his way, this will be how it will be in Aust. We have even seen elderly trolley people. It has been much more evident in Krogers than in other supermarkets.

Arrived early and got our pick of sites. We got this one right on the lake. At dusk, the family of skunks would come out to enjoy the fallen crab apples on the tree in our site. The sunsets were gorgeous! We met Puff the Purple Dragon on the beach! Loved the water tower.

Today we cycled 72 miles in rolling hills to a tiny town on the Ohio River. We were accommodated in two old, historic homes overlooking the River. The homes are run as bed and breakfast stops so we enjoyed an intimate atmosphere.
