    ... quite a bit of driving in the last few days. We've seen some great bits of Route 66 but there are also areas where the old road does not exist or runs directly next to the Interstate highways. Plenty of shopping and lots of singing along to the music in the people mover - which is becoming increasingly stuffed with suitcases and shopping!!! I've maxed out the photo capacity of the IPad at the moment so you'll have to wait for them - ...

    Another thing we loved about Chicago was the 'street art' including the Bean sculptures, the Police Horses (like the Bath lions/ Berlin bears etc.) and the way that various 'foods' were used to decorate the flower beds.

    Back to the food, Mrs Smith recommended us a great farmers market at the Nature Museum (on Saturdays) ...

    I will take a plane to Seattle, a train to Vancouver and then at some point rent a car when I am there. I have been intrigued by Vancouver since the 2010 Winter Olympics. I keep reading how it's the only city where you an ski and lie on the beach in the same day. So, before I attend and speak at the ARSL Conference next week in Tacoma, I thought it would be fun to spend a few days in British Columbia. This song also keeps running through my head. ...

    ... city before we left! Then we somehow found our way to the greyhound station and started our journey to Nashville...the southern bus driver took his job very seriously : " now ladies and gentlemen, I just want to warn you someone may die on the greyhound tonight , it may be me it may be you... If you are not comfortable with that you may exit the vehicle now." The journey was long and dreadful we had to wait in Louisville, Kentucky for two hours when our coach broke down but finally we arrived in Nashville ...

    ... the locals, is a magnificent sculpture and watching the reflected skyline change as you walk around it is so interesting. There is also another exhibit called the Crown Fountain, which was great to watch. It is meant to represent the gargoyles that watch over the city. In this case the faces of different city residents play out and over massive glass blocks and then spurt out water every so often. Pretty cool. After that, we headed back to West Town and wandered around ...
