... Tramway (climbs up Ranger Peak to 5632 feet) for a view of El Paso, but website was wrong and it was closed. El Paso very dry, dusty and uninspiring, with obvious Mexican influence in its buildings. After coffee at Maccas, hit the road west again.

Noted again "Gentlemens' Club, BYOB" - is that bring your own beer or BOY?

We left the Park in Huachucha City early on Friday and drove south to the cheapest gas we could find for the Coach. It was $2.45 when we went to Sierra Vista the night before. It jumped to $2.49 on our return from dinner and was $2.59 when we got there this morning... Did they see us coming, or what?

The wind pushed us east to New Mexico, crossing the Continental Divide at a bit over 4,000 feet above sea level. It was a long, ...

... 8:30 AM, about an hour earlier than we usually got on the road.

The terrain headed west was rolling, sand and filled with scrub brush and cacti of every sort. I suppose in its own way it is kind of pretty, but to me it was awfully desolate, annnndddd a long way between stops. ... Rosa winery, one of NM’s largest… walked out with a case of reds and ready for nap; (Planning a Habersham wine taste of New Mexico); also got some great info from the server on places in the area to visit. We will do some misc. back road touring. So clearly we are not quite ready to move on to the Carlsbad Caverns… we will take a week and camp at the City of Rocks, unusual volcanic rock formations and White Sands National Park near Alamogordo, NM.

St. Claire's Winery - Deming - Harvest Hosts

... are good here because the river water that is used for the grapes is clear and pure.

Deming is very interesting and there must be about 10 RV parks here that are huge plus there are so many other parks outside of town. This town must triple in the winter months and the traffic must be terrible. The views are great with the mountains in the distance, lots of stores, restaurants and the weather is warm with little rain.
