        ... beautiful, and I tried to catch a glimpse whenever I could. There were several scenic overlooks, where we could stop, drink some water, and take some pictures. For the most part, the temperature was staying in the low or middle 80's depending on the elevation.

        We left the Park in Huachucha City early on Friday and drove south to the cheapest gas we could find for the Coach. It was $2.45 when we went to Sierra Vista the night before. It jumped to $2.49 on our return from dinner and was $2.59 when we got there this morning... Did they see us coming, or what?

        ... the surface, apparently it's a very common substance but everywhere else it gets dissolved by water. It gets really strange when the Tarmac stops and you're driving on what looks like ice but it's the sand that's got damp, you keep expecting to skid. We park and I take of my shoes and socks to climb up a dune, it feels great, at the top you can see this wonderful white landscape for miles, at the visitor centre they hired sleds and there are children sliding down ...

        ... 8:30 AM, about an hour earlier than we usually got on the road.

        The terrain headed west was rolling, sand and filled with scrub brush and cacti of every sort. I suppose in its own way it is kind of pretty, but to me it was awfully desolate, annnndddd a long way between stops. We did eventually roll into Van Horn TX, and stopped to get something to eat, and take a break from the super slab....Oh ...

        ... visitor's centre for New Mexico and they have free wi-fi so taking advantage to update.Planning to go to Rock Hound State Park. We camped there 8 years ago when Miranda was with us. Now that I have a rock polisher at home, I want to get some rocks from there to polish. We will most likely stay there the night.
