      So on Thursday mid-afternoon we finally made it to Mason City and got settled into the campground. Plan to spend several days here visiting family and poking around.       ... Lake, we headed to the Hobo Museum in Britt, Iowa, about 20 miles west. Driving through flatness and corn and soy beans, with an occasional "town" we finally made it to Britt, only to find the museum "closed for the season." If summer isn't the season it's open, I'm not sure what is.

      ... John Wilcox, not only for its delicious treats but for the friendly owners behind the counter. We were not disappointed by either.

      ... at R Campground alongside the river, nice spot. Went for dinner at Chinese buffet place but horrible not like the one in Huston. On way home sent for a little walk along side river. All nicely set up with walk/bike tracks and canoe race thingy on river.

      ... in 1892 and has existed since then. They have expanded on the idea and it is now a community center that hosts entertainment and basketball games. The corn murals are works of art and change every year. Having a unique little niche can make all the difference to a community in this part of the country where it's hard to grow or maintain livestock.
