The next few days after Hot Springs were nothing special in terms of terrain, milage or weather. For me at least, it was sort of a time to get reacclimatized to the trail after our extended break. I had realized something in Hot Springs. For the first couple of weeks, I thought about quitting the trail at least twice a day: once when I woke up and had to get out of bed, especially on colder mornings, and at least once sometime during the day on a ************ or steep climb ...

Trees of maple, oak, ash, and hickory grew tall with thick, braided vines hanging from branches. The foliage was so thick in places that it was nearly dark. I stared hard into the vines, looking for ...

yesterday we drove from tuscaloosa to Knoxville, tn. it was only about 5 hours but Rhett wasn't in the mood for driving so- we made some stops along the way. we stayed in a best western on the edge of town so we wouldn't hit any morning traffic on the way out. we've got about 4 hours left to get to lynchburg, va it looks like. graduation festivities begin at 6 tonight for us with john john. we're 3 hours ahead of California time now. so I don't know what day it is OR what time it ...
