The Best Western Springfield served up a basic breakfast. Mark tucked into his sausage patties and scrambled eggs, I decided to stick to the toast!!

I wake really early and decide to leave Mark to rest whilst I pop to the gym and pool for a quick workout in an attempt to work off a portion of the calories consumed the day before! It was empty, I had both the gym and pool to myself. The view from the 5th floor to Downtown and The Arch was amazing, especially at sunrise. ... is in fact a nuclear bomb shelter built in one of the caverns! The tour was over an hour long, so we gave it a miss and pressed on and once again the female navigators let the team down! We had been driving along a small service road not far from the Interstate when Mumsie remarked that we hadn't seen a Route 66 sign post for ages, so Greg had a look at the map and we were actually on the wrong side of the Interstate!!!! ...
