The ship docked in Seward about 5am, and we were organised to disembark in groups. As we had no flight or tour to catch, we were put into group 7 out of 8, and had a lateish disembark time. Unfortunately we realised by looking at the other luggage tags in the corridor that we were the only ones in group 7, and that the rest of them belonged to a …

... level the vehicle before operating the gas fridge is emphasised, but all they give you to level it are four 6x2 chocks 50 cm long, with beveled ends. The demonstration shows using two of these stacked under a tire to get the height, but when you actually use them, they say the rear tyres need a chock under each tyre. When entering I asked the waiter for a table by the window for the "view"....he said the view was the interior. He was right. Very ...

Why not use snowmobiles and helicopters? Noisier, more expensive, more intrusive into the wilderness environment, gulp fuel (costs $1.50 a day to feed one dog), and not nearly so nice to curl up with at night.

One of the dogs, Gaiter, retires at the end of the day today. ...
