The ship docked in Seward about 5am, and we were organised to disembark in groups. As we had no flight or tour to catch, we were put into group 7 out of 8, and had a lateish disembark time. Unfortunately we realised by looking at the other luggage tags in the corridor that we were the only ones in group 7, and that the rest of them belonged to a …

The anchorage airport was nice, clean and seemed new. Rental cars are on site. We rented from Hertz as they are the only agency in Seward, where we will return the car. We got a full size car, an Impala which has a nice big trunk. The car has it own GPS, we used to get to the a Hotel Captain Cook. The hardest thing was trying to figure out how to get into the hotel. Supposed to be good views of Mount McKinley from here in clear ...

... as I searched other areas of Alaska, it seems to be socked in everywhere. The only good news about that is that it should put the bad fire in Soldotna out completely. IF the weather were nice and clear in Talkeetna we would have a great view of Mt McKinley (Denali), but the chances for that are very slim. For those of you who don't know this, our beloved, deceased dog, Denali, was ...

... d prebooked a site so we could guarantee somewhere to stay – we arrived at Fox Run RV Park just off the highway towards Palmer. We had a gravel pull-through, always a bonus with a long vehicle, but we actually looked quite small compared to some of our neighbours. We rarely see vehicles of this size in Britain as a lot of our roads are fairly narrow, so its great to observe how people holiday in these behemoths.
