        Talk about a packed day...
We were on the road by 5:30 this morning,
arrived in Keystone, South Dakota around 10:30, an hour early thanks to the time zone change.

First stop was the Big Thunder Gold Mine. After a less than stellar tour of the old mine, we went to the panning tables. American West. Carhenge should not be confused with Cadillac Ranch, a similar older
sculpture of old cars sticking out of ground near Amarillo, TX.

... the contours of this land. There is something so very calm and orderly about it - almost zen-like. Perhaps it should be called 'the anti-chaos theory'. I find it oddly comforting and relaxing, while still fascinating.

At Chadron, I headed south on Rt.385 - stopped at the state park - looked beautiful for camping, but it was a little early - and not only no wifi, but no cell phone service. So continued south - high ...

... Just a short jaunt down the road from Carhenge, was a very classy rest stop made of hay bales, a toilet, and an old recliner. Have no fear, we spent plenty of time to make sure the pictures came out just right!

Gerald had a tough time with the winds thrown at us by the Wicked Witch of the West while going Northwest thru Nebraska. His doors were flapping in the wind but Neil so kindly saved the day ...
