... Osama Bin Laden. We owe so much to these brave men! We passed through Sedgwick, Kansas where my Howell/Bowersox family is from. I plan to stop there on my return part of trip. ... ourselves, self-control got the best of us and we were up at 5:30 am, heading out of the Elsey's driveway towards Kansas at 6.

The road from Missouri into central Kansas isn't near as horrible and boring as I'd heard it was. Flat and nothing but corn, wheat and sunflowers is the prevailing rant about the scenery of Kansas. Being from west Texas, I can get an appreciation of odd, stark beauty. I've always loved looking out and seeing crops blowing in the wind, slapping over each ...

    Arrival at Fort Riley

A travel blog entry by sethfield on May 20, 2015

I finally arrived at Fort Riley nearly a year after my graduation from West Point. I made it to Derek and Amanda's new house on post just in time as Amanda was getting ready to drive back to Pennsylvania after her grandfather fell ill. That afternoon I caught up briefly with Knepper, Jim, and Brian and in the next days we started looking for a house while also in-processing on post and enjoying the chance to hang out all together ...
