... 2 times to add layers. I rode through one squall with many other folks and stopped to get gas on US 212. My navigation has weather and I saw that I would be riding into the storm, so rather than take the northern route to Aberdeen (and missing Sitting Bull's grave site), I continued on 212 east and hoped to out run the storm.

... the volume increases and the sky is aglow. Thousands of dollars literally going up in smoke. Crackers are still legal in South Dakota , so Michael continued his nearly 60 going on 16 approach bought the biggest crackers he could find and let them off, incurring Rhona's wrath as one came close , "idiot husband " was heard above the din of fireworks and the laughter of the others. A great day, jet skiing, ribs, beer and fireworks............ Happy Birthday Uncle ...

Today we drove through the heartland of the USA with Rhona's first cousin Eileen and her husband, David Voigt to their "lake house" in Mina, South Dakota. Corn as far as you could see in every direction, which had all made it to being knee high by 4 July. The country is not completely flat but undulates gently, with trees now planted along stream banks and around houses, it is has a very bucolic feel. Nothing like our long stretches of nothing. ... on the carpet of the motorhome but there were still lots of black marks on the carpet. Aarrrgh! Also I had left some dirty dishes in the sink as a result of cleaning out the fridge hastily when we had to vacate and we had lots of little fruit flies in the motorhome. Oh well - we will get it back in ship-shape in no time.
