The Mississippi Delta is not shining like a Guitar

... meet a local veteran who said Beale street has changed a ton over the last 40 years.  Well it could of fooled us.  After a little bit of walking around we head back to the RV to find the best place for Ribs in the world.  My internet research reveals a place called Central BBQ.  It is in a mixed part of town not too far from downtown.  Yes it lives up to its billing.  Despite being about 6:30 P.M. on a Tuesday night the place is packed.  Amazingly ...

On bein' done asleep

... diverse radio selection here in Tennessee. (I'll confess to having sung one or two country songs that I remembered from that one little phase I went through a long time ago, but trust me, we're searchin' real hard for that lone Hot 100 station - unless it's bluegrass and/or Creedence, in which case I insist upon leaving it).

Burgess Falls State Park

Bryce's friend Stephen suggested this spot and we are very thankful. It was amazing! It was a 1.5 mile trail that took us to 3 waterfalls, each better than the last. Hiking down the trail was easy... back up I realized how out of shape I am. seriously.
We did a lot of exploring at the bottom of Big Falls which is.. you guessed it their biggest waterfall. The pictures turned out really well.. take a look!

Drove to tennessee to deliver my dog to my mom's house. They seem to be bonding already. He will have a great time there and so will she. Stopped at Blacksburg, VA to stay with Gail Ford for a night and have returned to Charlottesville. Final packing is taking place now. Jamie will drive me to Dulles on Wed at 4.

Country music and Grandpa Gibbons hometown

Today was another good day of seeing America in the house bus. we started the day in Nashville TE at the Grand ole Opry House. If you're ever in Tennessee, you need to go to the Grand Ole Opry. We went to the Resort there and then to the Opry house itself, along with the museum. It was fun to see where country music was established. After leaving Nashville, we headed towards Knoxville realizing we were within 30 minutes of the town Greg,s Grandpa Gibbons was ...

... wax from ears, hairs from noses and redness from eyes. There are pills to keep you awake if you're sleepy and ones to make sleep if you cant. It's the variety that gets us, and each brand claiming to be better than the rest. Hazel loves this place. Then onto our last plantation, the Belle Meade. This plantation was most famous because of racehorse breeding, one of which was the first American horse to win the Epsom Derby. All the jockeys at that time were young slave boys ...

Fall Creek Falls State park

It was full of beautiful water falls and is the largest State Park in Tenn 22,000 acres and is well groomed. At the campground we met a couple from Colorado and his wife was born and raised at Big lake Alaska which is 40 miles north of Anchorage, so we got first hand info on what Alaska is like. Jamie, Sayward, and Chris

In case you haven't heard the story, Sayward and Chris(Sayward's husband) had planned to drive to Tennessee just in time for my birthday and Mother's Day. Jamie, being the sneakster that she is, decided to surprise my parents and show up for the occasion. So, Sayward, Chris, and Jamie spent the first weekend in ...

To Europe and home again

... nice restaurant where several us shared some tasty brandy. After lunch, we had some time to ourselves for shopping and what-not. My friend and I decided to pay our respects at the Jewish Ghetto. This tour was very expensive and although deeply moved by many of the displays, I was horribly disappointed with the audio tour. The cemetery was unsettling. Here, we learned that the Jewish were forced to live in this small area ...
