    ... story. The general manager played a prank in the 1930s and put a couple of ducks in the fountain and it was a hit. Long story short. Since then, they keep ducks in the pond during the day. Every day at 11, they waddle the ducks down from their palace on the roof into pond and back up at 5. It is a ceremony every day. Well, for a small (or not so small) fee, you can be a duck master for one of the ceremonies. So we surprised the kids with duck master honors. ...

    ... days we had some rain, mostly sprinkles except for a brief but impressive downpour yesterday and again today. Luckily they didn't last long.

    We almost made it home with no scars, but west of Nashville a truck threw a stone at us and we now have a 1.5 inch crack in the windshield. If that's the worst that happens, we aren't complaining.

    ... hot. You are outside for only about 10 minutes before the sweat is running off you and you are looking for somewhere to go inside and get cool. I reckon the richest people here would be the people that sell and maintain air-conditioners, you just wouldn't survive without them. Actually, how did they? After walking along the dirt track for about 3 kms (and me whinging my feet were hurting) it looked like we would have to turn around and walk all the way back again as there seemed to be a big concrete wall blocking the access to the road.  I told Dave he better get running if that was the case - he was safe though as when we got there we had access to the road and it was just a short walk over the bridge and around the streets of Harbor Town to our hotel.     ... that this hotel for the last 30 or so years every morning escorted 5 ducks from the roof, down the elevator, and ceremoniously escorted on red carpet into the hotel lobby fountain at 11am. The ducks then spend the next 6 hours swimming in the hotel fountain before being ceremoniously escorted back to the rooftop.
