We're heading out right after lunch to get a head start, the weather is perfect and we are packed and loaded. We took hwy 179 to 87 through Boonville where we jumped onto hwy 5 then at Fayette got on hwy 3 I took a picture of the New Franklin sign showing it was Sara Evans' hometown. Again, the weather is perfect! It's that sun in your face the wind at your back open sky feeling! The coolest ...

... at all of our stops have been so friendly and have the coolest mid-western accents. Things move at a very slow pace here and everyone waves hello. It reminds me of being back home ☺️ Our spot in Kansas was beautiful. The site ended up being right on the shore of a beautiful state lake and we got to it early in the day so we were able to set up our clothesline and dry everything out, wash the rest of our clothes in our big pot and cook a yummy steak supper. During our 20 minute stay we became more and more ...

We spent a lot of time "nursing it" and coasted down a 2 mile hill which probably saved us. Once we got to the gas station we messed around for about 2 minutes because dad didn't know if the guy at the pump was leaving or not. We are back on the road now and have about 30 minutes until we get to the hotel.

Leaving St. Louis mid-afternoon we drove the entire state of Missouri and stopped 125 miles into Kansas at Junction City for the night. Nearby was Fort Riley army base (but we were pooped after driving so we didn't see it!). The town was very ...
