When I look at the world....

... who we are, and have found our blog by chance, let us introduce ourselves. Hello. We are a Canadian family of four currently living in Alberta, Canada, though our roots are English and Irish (so if you notice spelling "variations", they aren't mistakes, they're "accents", or at least, that's the excuse I'm going with). We plan to spend eight months travelling around the world, in the unorthodox anticlockwise (see what I mean ...

... area and started putting on the tires myself. A simple one hour operation kept me there five hours. The mechanics were very good. The management was lacking. And that is why we are in Edmonton. We didn't go as far today as planned. But I planned today and tommorrow as shorter drives so we will get caught up. Tommorrow begins the real sight seeing part of the trip so next time I will have better pictures.

A quick morning

... cost me $22 dollars but Lloyd did take me right to the HI Edmonton so I wasn't too concerned about the cost.  Lloyd was quite amusing either way.  His vocabulary had "eh" in every second word and he recommended some places to see.  His most fervent recommendation was the University of Alberta's medical centre.  "They transport everything over there," he said.  Then he proceeded to tell me all the patients he had had in his cab who had received care and were a 100% better.  In the end I ...

2nd Volleyall Tournament - Jasper Place

... time the boys joined us, which was really good because between games we'd go and watch them or they'd come and watch us. It was amazing watching them play because it's so different to how we play. The boys did really well on this tournament, and us girls did alright, but not quite as well as we should have perhaps. It was still really fun though. We'd all go and have a team lunch or supper or something ...

And It's Done

After 14+ hours travelling yesterday, I'm finally back home. Still sunburnt and in a wee bit of pain, but aloe vera is my friend. To give you an idea how I spent that time yesterday, here is a summary of what I watched on the planes: Movies -Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day -Son of Rambow -21 -Iron Man -Flawless TV Show Episodes -Boston Legal -The Simpsons -Welcome ...

Departure in T-Minus 8 days

So there's about 8 days before Lee and myself embark on this epic quest. We're going to Europe! But I'm guessing you already know that, because Lee and I probably said something like "We're going to Europe!" and gave you this website where you can keep track of the trek, and place bets on what goes wrong and where. Please try to keep 'death' out of the bets. It tends to jinx things. So, like the description of the blog might suggest, we ...

2 months left until my world changes forever.

... A) By time i am back to use them, i may be too fat or something and B) The style will defiantly be out, Or my style will have changed, So its sorta like I should bring my fav stuff, But at the same time it looks too good to backpack with. To summarize I guess Thats just some random thoughts about random things, Bottom line being, I'm pretty much Ready to go at this point, Although i must admit its kinda a strange concept / thought to leave ...

Letting go to grow

... having my nephews see the ugly process. I know that parents can't do that. They just have to work it out and the kids see it all. But kids love their parents no matter what. But it is not the same with extended family if they are not shown a good example. Parental influence is such a major factor in how kids are around others. This direct reflection that really made me realize just how unacceptable it is to be so careless with words. I love my siblings for being so brave to have ...

Winter is dying and I am growing

... I swear this winter has been so long that I am going to enjoy my summer no matter how bad it is. But it's going to be great and I know it. I am just so determined to stick it to this past winter that I am going to be the summer cheerleader. I was wondering what fun things I can do to make people smile and this is it. I am going to make sure that everyone that I come into contact with not only acknowledges but appreciates this glorious and well earned ...

Arrive in Oil Country

... U Calgary, so it might help my decision making. That and I couldn't arrive in Edmonton before Steve was home from work at 6, so I had some time to kill. Downtown Edmonton is an exciting city with lots of tall buildings, shops and people bussling about. The city is relatively young (although 100+ years) so the city planning is much more suited for traffic flow than back east. Major streets are split into 2 one-way throughfares with 3 ...
