First day on the road

... and had a rest. The next 300 and something miles I drove as Darren had a well-deserved nap – I guess I didn’t really know what to expect in Iowa but especially the second half was so beautiful with rolling hills, a crazy number of wind turbines and lots of green, lush grass. We also drove past 'the worlds largest truck stop' in Iowa!!

The sun set around 8pm so we stopped at a rest stop (we were in Nebraska now) to make our evening juice and see just how easy this ...

... stopped for June more look at the Collegiate mountain peaks...nature in all it's majesty. After grabbing a quick bite and coffee at the Roastery in Buena Vista, we were back on the road...destination Kearney, Nebraska. After a swim and a very early bed time we were all asleep by around 8. Heading toward Iowa

... everybody travels to Denver on Saturday. With accidents and construction, it took us almost 7 hours in what should have taken about 4 hours. We ended up in Kearney, Nebraska at about 10:00pm. There we spent the night boondocking at a rest area on I-80. Tomorrow, we will make better time.

Leaving behind another campground sandwiched between the Railroad and the Interstate (yes, we did it again!), we continued our journey straight east across Colorado's high desert plains. 542 miles closer to home, woo hoo!  Was a nice day today hot with some clouds but no rain.  It had stormed overnight so the bike and roads were wet when we left but we will gladly take that over riding in the rain.  Shane said we are over 6,200 miles. The hotel has a restaurant attached to it and the hostess asked if we wanted a booth or table.  I said all I want is a cushioned seat...  Really your butt does go ...
