    Heading to North Carolina

Took off from Illinois at about 9:00. We drove about 600 miles
and boondoggled (Sheila says boondocked, not sure which one is right) at a rest
area in Ashland, Kentucky. Tomorrow, we have about 400 miles to go to get to
Zack’s. With an early start, we should get there about 2:00pm.

    Happy Trails,

We rolled out of Durham, NC on Thursday morning, July 2. We drove for about 5 hours and arrived at Kanawaha State Park just outside of Charleston, WV. Ended up with a great site up on a hill. Beautiful woodsy park with a stream running through it. It started raining quite hard so we hunkered down for an evening of board games. We did not have cell service at the campground and only able to get wifi at ...

Kentucky Trip - October 19 - Day Ten

Wow, it got cold last night. It was supposed to get down to 43 degrees last night so I put two blankets on the bed. It was warm and toasty but unfortunately I couldn't go to sleep after my phone conversation with Helen Jo. She sent me a text a little after 9:00 asking me to call so I did and we discussed Mom's situation. Apparently Helen Jo has had a tough week with Mom and sees ...

Still driving on Interstate at this point. Plan to start taking some back roads soon. Camping experience at this KOA was decent. Nice private spot with no other tent campers.

    Some highlights:

-Arrived just before night fall and glad we didn't have to set up in the dark.

-Cold Night with lots of condensation. So wet out ...
