Ron is a member of CHANY and the entire Ryan crew was there. The conference was great and I had a great time. While ron was attending the workshops I went sightseeing by myself.I walked over 15 miles, had lunch and tasted the water in the springs.
We left Ballston Spa with lots of tears all around. We have had a wonderful time enjoying the everyday routine of the kids and being able to participate in their activities. It is very hard to leave. We spent the night in Tremont PA which is in the Appalachian Mts. When we woke up the temp was 43 degrees! We drove on down rt 81 toward our destination of Farmington Pa and Fallingwater. This stretch took us longer than anticipated because we had to cross the Appalachian and Alleghany ...
... really rock when the horses are running. Even now it's plenty busy. Beautiful historical buildings and homes, and too many tasty bars, bistros and restaurants to manage in less than a year. And the leaves haven't even changed yet. The race track is huge. Five race tracks, and 84 barns capable of holding 2000 horses. We hoped to visit the racing hall of fame, but it had been robbed the night before and was closed. Some gold trophies were taken and are probably ...
... but they all were pretty steep going down - nothing for it, but to do it. It wasn't that bad in the end. The temperature was predicted to go into the low 90's but we had a breeze from the south so I hardly felt the heat, but I did feel too much sun and headed for the shady side of the river a few times.
