          ... diesel at a tank outside- we will bring our gerry cans since it's not too far from the wall. Mechanicville is a convenient stop- you don't even really leave the channel you just push off a bit to the side and onto the wall. There is a lot of wake from passing boats but luckily for us there has not been much traffic at all and the locks close at 6 pm anyway. There looks to be an Italian restaurant or two ...

          ... and their historical society has done a wonderful job of marking sites, but I find it loud and busy for a small town.
