This entry is only to keep my map current. We came across the eastern part of North Dakota, past Fargo and into Minnesota where we stayed at a great city park for the night. All grass and, with ************e there, peaceful.
I went for a run in the morning and then we headed across Minnesota towards Duluth...past ALL those lakes in Minnesota! So many of them.
Decided to leave early so I would miss thundershowers predicted for Wednesday. Very pretty day. Stopped in St Cloud to see some gardens. Silly me, I had already seen them and even though they were free I did not stay. I plan to get to Miles City, Montana tomorrow. ...
... and had refused it.There is one in Wall - about an hour or so away. There is also some information and displays in an Indian school about half an hour away. It seemed apt that there was little here at Wounded Knee but some relatives and the mass burial place across the road where there is now a church. As you can probably tell, I found it very moving and more real to see it there and listen to Kathy as she so simply told us the story. I felt privileged to ...
We hit the road again, and were able to up our pace a smidgeon. Must have been the magic donut holes! We passed a house sitting just up from a small lake (pond) and had to stop and take a picture. About 6 miles from Fergus Falls we stopped under the I-94 overpass to get out of the wind and rest a while. Our average was up to 10.2 mph! (We hate headwinds!) Turns out we shouldn't have taken that rest break.

... got harder. The winds picked up more. We stopped for a short break about 12 miles from Barnesville, not even sitting down, just leaning our bikes together and standing as we ate and drank. It felt good to be off the bike seat. I generally have little discomfort on my bike seat, but this year it’s been increasingly uncomfortable – muscle pain, not bone pain. And the guys were also hurting. For the last 6 miles, it was just put your head down ...
