I started this journey from home at 10:15 am, being picked up by the Act II shuttle. After picking up another traveler, we headed for O'Hare airport, arriving about 2:30 pm. That trip and check-in were uneventful. Since my flight wasn't scheduled to leave until 6:20, I walked the concourses for a while, had a snack, then ...

We say goodbye to Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and almost all of Illinois as we traveled west on I-80. Before leaving Indiana, we spent a couple of hours at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore - part of the National Park System. Krista had the best day of her life when she was checking out of Kroger’s with some groceries and wine, she was asked to show her ID! The woman at the cash said “it was just that she looked so young”. Oh, groceries, a six pack tall cans and two bottles of wine (a stock up stop:)) was only $25! God Bless America!

By the time we got ...

... There is a museum that highlights the history of the island and is the second oldest U.S. Army museum.

We had another view of the Mississippi River and the locks from the Rock Island side. It sure is a big river!

We found an interesting restaurant for dinner that reminded us of home and Lexington so we just had to eat there. It was called "Mama Compton’s"! Isn’t that special? We thought so! Oh, and the food was ...
