... miles were better. When I reached 7000 feet elevation, I had phone signal, so I called Vanessa and talked for about and hour. I was surprised to even had phone signal when I got done for the day at mile 1310. The weather was pleasant today. It was cool, at time chilly. There were lingering rain clouds but no rain today. I hope this cooler weather ...

The dominant tree here is the white fir (at least I think ...

Wednesday, July 8, 2015. PCT day 80. Miles 1224.4-1251.4 I did another 25 miler today. I have to admit, tho, that I am tired. It rained for most of the day starting at noon. As I write this at 9pm the clouds still linger and threaten more precipitation. The terrain was mellow today, facilitating big miles. There are so many pine trees here. The mountains are plastered ...

Savannah reunited with her true love and moved to Yosemite.
She came back to get her stuff and to help me celebrate my birthday.

Its really warm in Butte County. Today I think it was 72 and I hiked and laid in the sun on a grassy slope under oak trees like the landscapes you usually only see while driving I-5 through North Central California. It feels really special to be part of this landscape rather than just flying past it, marveling, in a ...
