    ... waking up at the crack of dawn to stress her body to the physical limit and then calm down with some coffee. I’m pretty sure she is a vegetarian for challenge purposes only. She is ready for what the wilderness and driving has to challenge her so don’t get in her way. Oh did I mention she also happens to be the love of my life and I couldn’t be happy to share this experience with her.

    ... five-line skink(a blue and yellow lizard) and a seven foot snake. The snake was dark blue with a white belly (later identified as a racer). He refused to get off the trail until poked by Betsy's hiking pole. Then he leapt into the air and exited the trail, but kept moving parallel to us for about 30 feet--- creepy. The other major wildlife was ticks. We did frequent checks and stopped counting at 20 (none of them managed to embed themselves).
