The guy said it would come on in ten minutes. That ten minutes lasted all night. It never came on, so I brought everything home to do.

Most times we drive Hwy 140 along the Merced River to get to Yosemite, but wanting to avoid the summer crowds in the valley as much as possible we opted to take 120 instead. On our way to the park we drove through the area scarred by the Rim Fire of Aug 2013. Although the fire spared most of Yosemite, it was saddening to see such widespread devastation (over 400 sq miles was torched over the ~2 months the fire burned). ...
After getting in pretty late after huge day of driving mostly on kens behalf, we decided that we would just hang out in our room til kickout time. Ken had a snooze after brekky,I think he has whatever it was I had yesterday. Just felt like rubbish. It was good to have a spell. Brekky was finally good, except for the undercooked ...
... time to spend at the destination. It would be a long, difficult hike. So I would not attempt this as a day hike either. I thought, this is likely my one chance to see this place that has been a dream to see since I found out about it.
Ultimately, after going back and forth, I decided to go for it and do that day hike to see the granite basin 3.5 miles away that I came here to see. My Dad felt great and was game.
We made breakfast and washed dishes at the "kitchen" ...
My feet are hurting, and I'm dehydrated as we climbed down for hours. Cutback after cutback, loosing all the altitude I had gained that morning. Things started to get interesting real quick though, when I came up to Caleb holding a lunch box and saying " dude this fell out of the sky".
Of course i didn't believe him at first, but then I saw the popped ballon and parachute attached and became dumb founded.
