... has its good points too. The best pass was the last one, over the North Cascades highway. Great glaciated mountain scenery, little traffic due to the early hour and a benign grade made for a great morning. Then down the Skagit River to Sedro Wooley for the night. Pleasant encounters include Ben and Nicole, two Aussies about 30 who left their concerned parents and friends for a SECOND "let's do this ...

... foolish for having brought a cookset this trip. But as it heats up, my pace slows, my fluid consumption goes way up, but if I'm careful it isn't too bad up to about 95. Tomorrow is forecast for over 100 and there is a 4000' climb at 50 miles, and after a previous 1000' bump. Got a little later start today (after 11). 177 mile loop. Left Robbinsvile on 143 and headed to the Cherohala Highway to Tellico Plains. After a stop at the Cherohala Harley Davidson we ate at Tellico Kats Deli at the recommendation of the woman at the store. It was excellent food and huge portions. We were all full until dinner at 9 pm. Heading north on 360, a short jump onto 411 and then we were on 72 headed to the Dragon. We stopped at the Dragon Harley Davidson where we heard about a ...

A quick entry here from the real beaver country (sorry OSU fans) before an early start to get ahead of high temps. My path from West Yellowstone took me through Ennis, Dillon, Wisdom and to Missoula. The pic captions should catch those highlights. In Ennis I stayed behind the distillery with other cyclists. It is a nice thing for them to do since we are not their best customers. Wisdom was very buggy (make metaphorically what you will of that, ...

... the longest mass we've been too. Paul looked at Elizabeth and said, " We may have to skip Denver because this mass is so long." It was nice though. I like taking them to different churches so they are comfortable someday going wherever they are if they want to go to church and see that the masses are the same anywhere in the world. It feels a little like home. Then we hit the road again for a long haul today. We wanted to knock out a bunch of hours off of the 12 from St. Louis to ...
