        Morning dawned bright as the sun bounced off the lake. The grass lush and green and the lake deep blue.         ... The rock is called Sioux quartzite and it is very resistant to erosion. The rocks in the Big Sioux River are kind of layered and look like they are stacked atop each other. There are lots of walking trails with overlooks and picnic areas and there is even an observation tower with an elevator (free) that gives a view of the entire park.
