... to the ancient Hohokam as they are to local tribal communities today. Rock art patterns may symbolize Hohokam activities or mark places that were important to them.

We didn't walk the trails so the only one I got to see was by the entrance to the park, but at least these ones seem to exist unlike the ones in Santa Fe!

Having seen what we could of the area without killing ourselves we headed into Tempe to get some lunch and check out a pub recommended to us by Uncle ...

Our four mile hike left us a bit tired today. It was hilly country and just right for using the trekking poles, which we used. One does get a better workout using them, I'm told. It must be the upper extremity involvement that does the trick. As septuagenarians, we need it all...

I feel like I should post.... since I haven't done so since the first day of my arrival in Phoenix. I was there from the 24th of December until the 13th of January. 3 weeks basically. I was worried when I first booked the trip that it would not be enough. It would end up being plenty of time.
