I was so tired last night after the Zoo that I decided to wait till today and write a double entry about the two days we have had so far in San Diego.
First though, I'd like to write about a few things I have learned on our travels so far:
1 - Whatever time you planned to leave in the morning add half an hour (on a good day) to an hour (on a less good day).
2 - Whatever fun you are having probably will be spoiled a bit at some ...
... not in our case... It's been cold and rainy all the time since we arrived. Everybody is amazed by this fact and keeps assuring us that "it only rains like ten times a year around here"... Hmm, bad luck? ;)
We are staying in Pacific Beach which is supposed to be a great outdoor area (when it's not raining...). It's pretty far from here to Downtown, but there are trolleys and buses and the journey doesn't take that long. A bit nearer is the ...

The low points, cold, tiredness have been transient, pain is indeed temporary and there is an immense satisfaction in pushing physical limits and in tapping the mental strength required to persuade a tired body to do just one more hill, one more mile. ... of Osama Bin Laden when it was disposed of. Pretty cool. Can't remember the name now. Afrer that side of the harbour, we then headed in the opposite direction towards the sea lions, they were cool. They were hanging around on a bait barge and there were some fat suckers. Job done. Got some nice photos of the San Diego skyline - will post later when I have computer open. We went for a walk around the area for an hour or so, then dinner. We went to Jimmy's for dinner. ...
... to get out to where you’re ‘supposed’ to be twice. The waves were huge and constant, so you needed fitness levels ten times beyond mine to regularly paddle out to where they break. It was all worth it though when I caught probably the biggest wave of my life near the end of the day and rode it all the way to the shore.
