... and rock formations. The drive was not long to get to the National Park and just as we passed the sign announcing we had arrived, we turned a corner and a huge buffalo was crossing the road! Ted slammed on the brakes and watched as thus large animal took his own sweet time to cross to the other side. We also watched cars and trucks hardly slow down for him. They were probably locals that take this road to home and ...

... opted for a Walmart in Rapid City that was easily accessible from I90. We pulled into the parking lot and found two locations in the front corner of the lot and turned on the generators to keep the refrigerator supplied with electricity while we were gone. Everything was locked and secured so we took off in the car for Mt Rushmore. On our way down we noticed that bikes were starting to show up on the roads again. ... bell service didn't start until 6:30 A.M., so we couldn’t experience it again.

On our way to watch the sunrise, as soon as we walked out of the hotel, we looked to our left, and there was a bison! He was grazing only feet away from the hotel. We could even hear him chomping away. After that, we walked down to the edge of the lake around 5:20 or so, and we watched the sunrise until about 6:00. A few other people showed up as well. The sun rose slowly, and ...

We started the day with a down poor which gave us a 38 min delay on the start of our day on the road. The roads have real good and the temp have been great for driving. We stopped for lunch and had a nice lunch buffet in the town of Miller. They have had a lot of rain around here so the fields are wet. We stop on the road when saw a line of 9 - 70's car that we all the same color and body style. They may have been T-Birds. There was a detour in Pierre and we ...
