... GPS did us wrong again by taking us a rather out of the way route to get to the park. I don’t get it. We got here, but had to take more turns and go further away to do so.

We checked in at the office, which is not in the park proper, and were given directions to the campground. The spaces were cheap, at $20 per night, but there is no Wi-Fi or cable service and the sites don’t have a sewer hookup, either. You have to dump at the dump station ...

... about 15 miles under the speed limit pretending like I didn't know he was there. A little while later, I had one come flying up out of nowhere right behind me as I was exiting the interstate. While I sat at the stop sign, Tyler sat there telling me he was running my tag. He also then went around me while I tried to breathe again. I really don't want to pay for a speeding ticket. Anyway, the other thing we noticed... 2. Gas is really cheap. ...

... dicey conditions, we were safely south of Winter Storm Cleon (Since when were winter storms named? I must have missed that announcement.)

After 100 miles on monotonous I-55, we detoured to Jackson and Cape Girardeau (both still in Missouri) for no other reason than to see different scenery. On the riverfront flood wall in the Cape, there was a dramatic Mississippi River Tales Mural, ...

Memphis felt so much more 'real' than Nashville. The main drag is closed to cars so you can wander around with plastic cups of your favourite drink (or giant guitar shaped cups if you prefer). We grabbed some frozen daiquiris and sat in the square listening to a band before giving in to the heat and seeking out AC. The caravan park we chose (the cheapest) left us a little worried about our safety, but any potential burglars ...

... it's original floor, walls and ceiling and you can just imagine all these great bands performing their best here.  With all this music, beer and heat I could leave without trying some of it's famous food so I ambled down to the Soul Fish Cafe where I tried by very first catfish in a catfish PoBody. Fried catfish, new orleans style bread with lettuce, tomato and sweet potato fries ... Yummo! All in all, Memphis was a huge hit! Next stop is for some Southern charm at Charleston, South ...
