... I like driving on the by-ways rather than the interstate highways if I can. I hope that Emma didn't mind too much. We saw more little towns and countryside - some farmland - maybe even a few cows today - as we headed out to Cooperstown.

We filled up with gas in Ashland and then took I-95 north to route 17 in Fredricksburg. Route 17 is the scenic route that heads into the mountains of Virginia. ... dating right away. They were so much fun, and they bought me a drink to celebrate my trip. It got around that Patrick was calling bike stores in the surrounding towns to get a tire delivered. A man came up and offered the tire off his kid's mountain bike. It was going to be big for his tube size, but it fit his wheel. We took a short ride over to Chittenago Falls State Park to see a waterfall. The waterfall is very cool and there were a lot of visitors taking advantage of the sunny day. It has been raining almost the whole time we have been here. We had our picnic at the falls and decided to just relax for awhile.
