          ... NH and the next day took a drive to Franconia Notch State Park. AMAZING! We saw the Old Man in the Mountain, rode the tram to the top of hill for a foliage extravaganza, hiked the Notch Flume, and got our butts kicked on the biking trail! We loved our time in New Hampshire. We were amazed at the beauty! We took a train ride on the Conway Scenic Railway.

          So off to Vermont where we imagined even more ...

          Tues Sept 29, 2015 Bus tour started with a visit to the Vermont State Capitol. We sat in the House chamber (I chose original desk 33!), stared at the portrait of George Washington at the head of the room and marveled at the history of the place.           Whoever wrote the sign at the entry to Franconia was a master of understatement. The sign warns 'a trip through the flume involves uphill walking and stairs. If I weren't so out-of-breath, hopefully from my cold, I might have counted the stairs. Just kidding. But my iPhone says I only climbed three flights of stairs, but I climbed 7 the day we visited Portland’s signal tower. I think my iPhone is broken.
